Jon Urban is an American landscape artist. His Coal Creek studio overlooks the San Juan Mountains, the Grand Mesa, and the Uncompahgre Plateau where he is surrounded by ever-changing views of natural beauty.
Jon was born in Tennessee in 1960 and moved to Connecticut when he was 9 years old. Growing up with a love of the outdoors, Jon spent many hours exploring rural New England. His love and appreciation of the grandeur and beauty of the mountains grew out of the many hours spent working high atop the lift towers on the ski slopes from Vermont to Washington State. He truly had a bird's eye view of nature.
Jon and his family moved to Colorado in 1999, exchanging the Vermont countryside for the breathtaking beauty of the Colorado Rockies and the high desert mesas. Jon's experiences on the ski slopes of North America and his explorations of their back roads and mountain trails have given him the opportunity to gather impressions and the inspiration to create his paintings.
Today, Jon and his wife Missy, along with their faithful Cocker Spaniels live in a small town in western Colorado where Jon devotes his time to capturing on canvas the splendor that surrounds him. Whether it is a serene mountain lake or a snowy peak in the early morning sun, his use of vivid color and texture allows you to experience first hand the magnificence of nature at its finest.
